The United Way office received a much needed face lift thanks to Life Scout, Robert Bodin, and his fellow Boy Scouts of Troop 171. Bodin is working on his Eagle Scout badge, and selected the office face lift as his project. This Eagle project involved painting the entire office space (two offices, conference/common area and hallways), replacing damaged ceiling tiles, cleaning the carpets, and assembling grand new office chairs (donated by Al and Renee Birman). The United Way office is located at 202 Avenue C in the historic section of Cloquet, and hadn't received a fresh coat of paint in 10+ years. The carpets were in need of cleaning and the ceiling tiles had been damaged due to a water leak a while back. There's no question, the face lift makes the United Way office much more welcoming to the general public as well as a more enjoyable place to work now. No donor dollars were spent on this project. Bodin secured sponsorships from Hagens Glass and Paint Co. Hermantown Menards, Walmart, McDonald Rental, Cloquet Holiday Gas Station, and Urshan Retirement Group who donated paint, supplies, gift cards to be used towards supplies or reduced pricing, or cash. A total of 122 hours of labor was donated by Bodin's Boy Scouts Troop, adult leaders and parents. Without the help of Bodin and Troop 171 the United Way office would not have had this much-needed facelift because United Way does not have access to the necessary resources to get the job done quickly.
